Share the Love: Supporting the Thru Project This February

Starting a new chapter in life is always challenging, but doing it alone can be overwhelming. For young adults aging out of the foster care system, the transition to independence often happens without the safety net of a family to fall back on. Simple things that many of us take for granted—like dish soap for a first apartment or fresh towels—can become significant hurdles.

This February, REEP is proud to sponsor the REEP Cares: Share the Love Donation Drive to support the Thru Project.

We are calling on our wonderful residents, staff, and the broader San Antonio community to join us. Together, we can help these resilient young adults build a strong foundation for their future.

Why We Support the Thru Project

The Thru Project is a non-profit organization near and dear to the Garza family’s heart. Their mission is critical: they provide guidance, support, and resources to young adults transitioning out of foster care.

Often, when young people age out of the system, they face immediate responsibilities without the essential household items needed to make a space livable. By partnering with the Thru Project, we are directly helping these individuals turn their first apartments into true homes. In fact, some recipients of this drive are neighbors living in our REEP communities.

When you donate to this drive, you aren’t just giving supplies; you are telling these young adults that their community sees them, supports them, and wants them to succeed.

What We’re Collecting

We are focusing on the essentials—the practical items that make daily life functional and comfortable. We are collecting new, unopened items in the following categories:

Laundry & Cleaning Supplies

Setting up a new home requires the tools to keep it clean. These items are often expensive but necessary for maintaining a healthy living environment.

  • Laundry detergent and dryer sheets
  • Dishwasher pods and dish soap
  • Sponges, brooms, and mops
  • Kitchen and bathroom cleaners
  • Disinfectants and trash bags

Personal Care & Toiletries

Self-care is vital for confidence as these young adults enter the workforce or higher education.

  • Shampoo and conditioner (for all hair types)
  • Toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Face wash and body wash
  • Deodorant and lotion
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Baby wipes

Household Basics

These are the items that turn an empty apartment into a comfortable living space.

  • Towels (hand, dish, and body)
  • Bedding
  • Paper towels and toilet paper
  • Over-the-counter medications

When and Where to Donate

The drive runs throughout February. It is the perfect time to “share the love” and make a tangible difference in someone’s life.

Drop-off Locations:
We have made donating easy. You can drop off your contributions at:

  • Any REEP Residential property in San Antonio: Look for the designated donation boxes in the leasing office or clubhouse.
  • The REEP Corporate Office: Donation boxes are also set up at our headquarters.

Join Us in Making an Impact

At REEP Residential, we believe community is about more than just shared addresses; it is about shared support.

Whether you can donate a single bottle of shampoo or a full basket of cleaning supplies, your contribution matters. Every item collected helps remove a financial barrier for a young adult just starting out.

Let’s come together to make this February meaningful. Let’s fill those boxes and show the Thru Project participants that their neighbors at REEP care. Thank you for your generosity and for helping us share thelove!
